Tokyo Pride 2025: A Celebration of Love, Identity, and Inclusion

Tokyo, Japan – February 27, 2025, NPO Tokyo Rainbow Pride (TRP : co-chairs Natsumi Yamada & Yuko Sato) is proud to announce that Tokyo Pride 2025, which kicks off in June, is expanding its programming in celebration of Pride Month, introducing exciting new initiatives, including Youth Pride, a Human Rights Conference, and a Queer Art Exhibition. This year’s month-long event will bring together diverse cultures and perspectives to learn, connect, and celebrate.

◾️New Initiatives at Tokyo Pride 2025
This year marks a significant expansion of Tokyo Pride, incorporating new programs alongside the traditional Pride Festival and Pride Parade, which were previously held in April.
Newly introduced events include:
Youth Pride – A festival-style event tailored for young generations
Queer Art Exhibition – A showcase of artistic expression celebrating diversity
Human Rights Conference – A platform for discussing critical human rights issues
In addition, Tokyo Pride 2025 will feature educational YouTube programs and other innovative approaches to explore the present and future of the LGBTQ+ community.

The Pride Parade is a powerful march advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and dignity. It has been held in major cities worldwide for over 50 years. Tokyo’s first parade took place in 1994, and participation continues to grow, with 15,000 attendees in 2024. The 2025 Pride Parade will be held on June 8 (Sunday).

A cornerstone of Tokyo Pride, the Pride Festival will take place at Yoyogi Park Event Plaza. It will feature booths by domestic and international companies and organizations, NPOs, and food vendors supportive of the LGBTQ+ community. The festival will also offer networking opportunities, informational booths, and stage performances at the Pride Stage by diverse artists.

For the first time, Youth Pride will be held as a festival-style event designed for younger generations, focusing on four key aspects:
- Learning
- Working
- Having Fun
- Living
The event aims to provide resources and networking opportunities to help young individuals navigate life with confidence and joy.

This is a publicly curated exhibition celebrating diverse identities and expressions, featuring paintings, photography, sculptures, and installations. This exhibition will spotlight the intersection of LGBTQ+ identity and artistic expression, fostering deeper societal understanding and appreciation of queer culture.
Original Art Sales & Tip Box – Attendees can support artists directly by purchasing works or leaving tips.
“Favorite Artist” Voting – Visitors can vote for their favorite artist, with the winner receiving the Tokyo Rainbow Pride Award (¥100,000 prize).
(*If multiple artists receive the same number of votes, the winner will be selected by lottery among them.)
Call for Entries – Open to LGBTQ+ artists both professional and amateur and works exploring queer culture or history. Submission deadline: March 15, 2025.
